Wanted The Movie Review

Hollywood.com Says
Whoa! Wanted sets off the fireworks BIG TIME. This is the heart stopping, extreme summer action movie of your dreams.

Story
Based on a graphic novel, the violent tale revolves around Wes (James McAvoy), a meek 25 year-old office worker who hates his life. His boss berates him, and he can’t even summon the balls to tell his slutty girlfriend to stop sleeping with his best buddy. But his world is suddenly rocked when Fox (Angelina Jolie)–a mysterious, tattooed woman with a gun and a red sports car–takes him on the ride of his life. She takes him straight to The Fraternity, a centuries old legendary group of hired assassins who live–and die–by their code: Kill one to save a thousand. Seems Wes’ long-lost father was a member who has just been whacked, and he is now summoned to join up and unleash the inner killer in his genes. After a rigorous training regimen in which he is almost beaten to a pulp, he emerges as the organization’s new golden boy and finds self-esteem in his new exciting alternative lifestyle. However, the group’s enigmatic leader Sloan (Morgan Freeman) may have other plans in store for Wes that he isn’t quite sharing at the moment.
Acting
McAvoy simply rocks as the most unexpected action star of the summer, and that includes a season so far that has given us the quirky offbeat castings of Robert Downey Jr. and Edward Norton in Marvel comic book franchises. McAvoy (Atonement) has buffed up for the part but still looks like the average Joe, exactly why the audience has a rooting interest as he becomes a fish-out-of-water in a group of hit men (and women). You’re with him all the way. This unusual choice is exactly what sets the film apart and makes it a complete original in an over-worn genre. Jolie, on the other hand, is absolutely who you would expect to play the heavily tatted Fox. Guns blazing, feet slamming the pedal, gorgeous and talented at taking guys out (of life), Jolie’s a card-carrying member of a club previously thought only open to men. She exudes cool and has never looked hotter. Freeman is at his best. He commands the screen adding his usual stoic presence to the proceedings with a nice twist that lets him show a creepier side than we usually get. Other members of the “club” are competently played by ever-reliable Terence Stamp, German-born bad guy Thomas Kretschmann and rapper Common, who shows he can keep up with the big boys–acting and other-wise.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe (PG-13)

Hollywood.com Says
Old, familiar faces aside, this X-Files sequel unfortunately doesn’t satisfy the itch for more Scully and Mulder paranormal adventures.

Story

The first problem is the title: I Want to Believe? Not at all mysterious as an X-Files title should be. What it points to, however, is the age-old question of why former FBI agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny)–now a recluse hiding out from the FBI and cutting out newspaper articles–believes in the unexplainable, while Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson)–now a pediatric doctor–continues to discount it. But rather than going into more back story on what these two have been up to (are they living together?), I Want to Believe jumps right into the middle, as if X-Files just went off the air a few months ago and this movie is just a continuation of one of the episodes. The story centers around a missing FBI agent and a former priest-turned-convicted pedophile (Billy Connolly), who seems to have psychic abilities in finding her. Of course, it gets weirder, but not in the ways you want or expect from an X-Files movie; it’s more CSI than UFO. Now, if at some point, after Scully furrowed her brow at Mulder, her head were to split open and his long-missing sister popped out, THAT would be something.

Acting
You can’t completely knock Duchovny and Anderson for I Want to Believe’s faults. Their Mulder and Scully are the yin and yang of the strange and unexplainable who still have that it’s-so-complicated-but-I-really-do-love-you relationship, which made the show work so well. Even if the plot to this sequel needs a lot more explanation than what is given, Duchovny and Anderson slip right into it without blinking an eye, which is somewhat comforting. Everyone else, however, is entirely misplaced–from Connolly as Father Joe, just trying to find redemption for his crimes, to Amanda Peet as the FBI agent in charge of the case who brings the outlawed Mulder in to help and ends up flirting with him. Huh? There are also some well-placed X-Filers making appearances, but really, it’s all about Mulder and Scully–once again.

The best sales tips from Barbara Walters

arezt.com say’s

Every marketer should want to get a many customer in every time. And how about your customer want to get? What Are You Doing With Your Customers?

Are you being boring?

Are you asking what you should already know?

Are you prepping for your meeting and researching something unusual?

Are you talking too much and not listening enough?

Do you know the hot buttons of your customers?

Selling is not about manipulation. And neither is interviewing. Do you know about Barbara Walters? if you like to watch her TV program, i think you can learn 3 best sales tips that i mentioned below..

  • Don’t pressure. If you’re talking to someone intrusively and you make them feel pressured - they will clam-up, stone-wall, freeze you out in less than 3 seconds. Barbara rarely slipped up on this. She would make people feel comfortable, usually in an environment of their choice.
  • Don’t ask stupid questions. Barbara didn’t ask the typical boring questions that other reporters would ask. She was and is known for her exceptional research skills. She would find the little piece of information that was a hot button - and then find a way to work it in.
  • Make people FEEL. Barbara is also known as the interviewer who could make anyone cry. She would ask the hard question and yet with respect. And she always caught her subject off guard - where they showed their authentic side. (How easy do you think it is to interview professional actors who’ve been asked everything?)

AUDI A4 : GERMANY’S MOST POPULAR CAR 2008

The Audi A4 is Germany’s most popular car. For the ninth time now, more than 100 regional weekly newspapers in the former East Germany invited their readers to vote for “Our Car.” The 56 car models launched during the past year were eligible to take part. Over 100,000 responses were received, and the Audi A4 topped the poll.

The Audi A4 has already received numerous major awards – including the “Golden Steering Wheel” from Bild am Sonntag and the “Auto 1” trophy from AutoBild naming it the best new car in all of Europe. Now it is continuing Audi’s history of success in the “Our Car” award.

This was in fact the fourth time that the brand with the four rings has won this readers’ poll. In 2001, the old-generation Audi A4 took first place, a feat later achieved by the Audi A6 in 2005 and the Audi TT last year. The prize was handed over during the AMI in Leipzig. In the 2008 “Our Car” readers’ poll, two further Audi models ranked among the top ten most popular German cars: The Audi A5 came third and the Audi R8 seventh.

Nokia E71 Review

By guest editor Steven Nersesian

One week has passed since I received my Nokia E71. Yes, I actually got a new phone that isn’t an iPhone. And yes, I am sane. As many of you know from my past posts I am a fan of Nokia’s, but I can also say that I am critical of some of their choices.

Having lived with the E61i for over a year (and still loving it, by the way), I was really excited to get my hands on the E71. I had been underwhelmed by the spy pics that I had seen online. But when I opened the box and pulled it out I was very impressed. It is very solid… very clean detailing… a nice weight.

As an object of beauty the E71 shines… literally. This continues the Nokia tradition of pristine objects… the 8800, the E65, the E61i, etcetera, etcetera. The screen is very bright and clear and all of the surfaces are high gloss. Again, much more impressive in person that in pictures.

Then there’s it’s size. I had been concerned about the diminished form factor… how would the buttons feel?… would I still like the experience on a smaller screen. Honestly, the E71 feels so good in the hand (and slips easily into the pocket… even the change pocket on some of my jeans) that I haven’t even noticed! And after using the keyboard for 15 minutes I didn’t even notice the tighter spacing. Did I mention that I love the keyboard… yes, an ACTUAL keyboard with real haptics… because it’s got ACTUAL buttons!!! And when I laid the E71 on top of an iPod touch, it’s actually got a smaller footprint and minimally thicker!!!

Next I turned my attention to some of the features. The interface is much more responsive than the E61i, especially in the messaging and imaging applications. I took some pictures with the 3.2 megapixel camera and they came out great. Continue Reading…
